A Sunday on Broadway: Brunch, Hadestown, and a Little Theatrical Magic

There’s something special about spending a Sunday in the heart of the Theater District — that unmistakable buzz of anticipation, the lights, the stories waiting to unfold. This past Sunday, I returned (for the third time!) to one of my all-time favorite Broadway shows: Hadestown.

If you’ve seen it, you know: Hadestown isn’t just a musical — it’s an experience. The music, the mythology, the mood — it draws you in and holds you there long after the final bow. Watching it again felt like visiting an old friend who still manages to surprise you.

Before the show, I kicked off the afternoon with a pre-theater brunch at Langan’s, a cozy Midtown gem just steps from the buzz of Broadway. I went for the chicken and waffles — crispy, golden perfection with just the right touch of indulgence.

As a sweet bonus, when I showed my Hadestown ticket, they brought over a complimentary Espresso Irish Coffee Martini. Strong, smooth, and perfectly balanced — a little caffeinated pick-me-up with a kick of Irish charm. Honestly, it was the kind of cocktail that makes you feel like the day is already a celebration.

Between the warm hospitality at Langan’s and the powerful storytelling of Hadestown, it was the kind of Sunday that reminds you why you live (or visit) this city. Great food, great theater, and that New York magic that never quite wears off.
